QUICKDEX FOR WINDOWS
Quickdex is a replacement for the Cardfile program that comes with
Windows. Unlike Cardfile, Quickdex allows you to search forward and
backward, allows a regular expression search, and allows (essentially)
unlimited file and card sizes. If you know Quickdex on the Mac, this is
an improved version.
Corporate Site Licenses and customized versions are available. For more
information contact Stellar Software at 403 243 8987, through Compuserve
70444,127 (Internet 70444.127@compuserve.com) or at the address below.
Sorry, but the author can't afford to return long distance phone calls.
This application may be freely posted on bulletin boards and distributed,
providing that distribution includes this file, the help file and the
application itself.
This version of Quickdex is capable of 'drag & drop' editing, but
requires a 'key' to enable that functionality. Anyone can receive the key
simply by registering their copy. The application is fully functional
without drag & drop, but it's a treat for those who register.
Quickdex is Shareware. If you keep and use it send $20 to:
Stellar Software
312 40th Avenue SW
Calgary Alberta Canada
T2S 0X4
Or send $22 to register AND receive the latest version on disk.
If you have access to Compuserve, you can register Quickdex there
by GOing SWREG and following the prompts.
Thanks

Change History
CHANGES FROM VERSION 1.10A TO 1.11A
Version 1.11a adds two new capabilities to Quickdex. The first is the
ability to write out files in Cardfile format. The second is the ability
to save unique preferences with each Quickdex data file.
Although Quickdex will write out files in Cardfile format, it will not
check that the file is readable by Cardfile. For example, Cardfile can
display a maximum of 400 characters in a card. If there is more data in
a Quickdex card, it will *not* be truncated when written. Cardfile also
has a limit of about 1200 cards in a data file. If you save a Quickdex
file with 10,000 cards it will cheerfully write out a perfectly valid
Cardfile data file -- only Cardfile can't read it.
Version 1.11 also make a minor change to the Quickdex data file format.
The first card (hidden when loaded) contains user preference information
about the data file, including font name and style, display of menus or
buttons, and the window location and size when the data *was last
saved*. Although I believe this feature is very handy -- particularly
when running more than one instance of Quickdex-- it can be a bit
disconcerting when switching between data files, causing the application
to jump from one place to the other on your screen. It is also a change
from earlier versions which saved the window position when the
application ended. Also, it is possible for Quickdex to restore the
window position incorrectly -- somewhere "off the screen" giving the
appearance that Quickdex is invisible. (This can be fixed by choosing [Tile]
in the Task Manager).
Any comments you have with regard to how you would prefer to see
preferences saved and restored are much appreciated by the author.
VERSION 1.11b
- Fixed bug causing screen window position to be restored incorrectly.
- Added RTF export capability.
VERSION 1.2
Version 1.2 was written in response to many requests for additional
features -- list view being one of the most common requests.
As always feedback is welcome.
- Added Copy Card menu option
- Added List View Feature (after MANY requests)
- Modified datestamp logic and added ability to customize data formats
- Added modem configuration dialog and ability to use COM ports directly
